- New switch: newsounds. The framework is done for both DOS and Windows, but currently only house/industry animations and industry random sound effects use it. (under DOS, newsounds.highfrequency enables 22KHz mixing, it's on by default)
- With newcargos on, now all cargo types are displayed in the cargo payment window. Maximum 16 of them can be turned off at a time, though.
- (devel) cleaned up newcargo.asm somewhat
- With newcargos on, the limit of waiting cargo is lowered to 32K to avoid display glitches
- Bug: callback 2E corrupted town data
- var. 60 for industry tiles is changed somewhat. New format is: rrzzbbss, where rr is reserved for future use, zz is the Z coordinate of the lowest corner, ss is the slope data as returned by gettileinfo, and bb is a bitmask: bit 0 set=industry tile, bit 1 set=water tile, other bits reserved
- callback 2F is now called for steep slopes as well, so those can be allowed
- for industry tiles, the land shape flag 0x20 means "allow building on both land and water". Callback 2F can be enabled to decide if a given tile is OK or not.

When loading a savegame, TTDPatch checks the morevehicles setting of savegame. If it's larger than current setting of TTDPatch, it shows a warning and pauses the game.

By Norman Rasmussen: ttdloadw.ovl is now NT/2k compatible, and he also fixed several bugs in the TTD code that made it incompatible with NT/2k. If you have the Windows version of TTD, try running it under Windows NT/2000/XP with the new "-2" switch or the cfg line "win2k on". This might make it possible to run TTD on these operating systems.
By Marcin: fix the catchgpf handler; should work a lot better now. It's not currently enabled for the alpha versions, but I might turn it on permanently if it works as well as I think it does.

There was a bug that prevented some people from placing signals, I hope it is fixed now.
Vehicle windows shows speed also on the way to a depot, as well as with no orders. Speed doesn't cycle anymore while train is waiting at a signal.
Buying a signal while holding Ctrl actually buys the signal if one doesn't exist yet. Otherwise it configures pre-signals like before.
In 1.7.1 alpha 10:

In 1.7.1 alpha 8:
Made it possible to cycle signal state using Ctrl. For this, use the switch "-Xw" (and "-w" too), or "extpresignals on". This cycles between normal, pre-signal, exit and combined signals. To cycle, attempt to add more signals to a square (like when you switch between two-way and one-way signals), but hold down the Ctrl key while doing so.
Redesigned pre-signal handling; it's more flexible and can handle a larger variety of cases.
Actually implemented autoreplace switch. Use "autoreplace <number>", where <number> is a number between -128 and +127 and specifies the number of months from the maximum age at which to replace an engine. For example, "autoreplace -6" will replace an engine 6 months before it reaches it maximum age. If the number is less than -12, you will never see a message about your vehicles getting too old.

No updated source code zip file, only the diff file diff-1716.gz which updates alpha 6 to alpha 7. There are so few changes that I didn't bother making a whole new source distribution.
In 1.7.1 alpha 6:
Made it possible to change the size and relative position of the replacement graphics for signals.
Fixed a bug that made Borland C include all floating point library. Now the .exe file is smaller by 12KB.
Included some corrections by Marcin Grzegorczyk to make it possible to compile TTDPatch with only one version info present (and not the first one either).
In 1.7.1 alpha 5:
Enabled different graphics for signals. Pre-signals have a little "P" on them, pre-signal exits an "X", and combined pre-signals-which-are-also-exits have a "C". These are preliminary graphics and will probably be improved. Also, making a combined signal is not possible at this time.

Moved source code .zip file to my university's servers for faster download. Just click on ttdpatch_source.zip and you'll get it from there. I also got rid of a lot of useless stuff that make the file a lot bigger than it needs to be.
Added diffs to make it unnecessary to download the whole source code. The files "diff-ver-subver.gz" are diffs from the given version to the current one. I used diff from DJGPP, using other version of GNU patch should be able to deal with this form.
In 1.7.1 alpha 3:

This takes a parameter that is bitcoded. Just add any of the following values:

Added Marcin Grzegorczyk's bug fix for plane crashes that leave an airport terminal unusable. Now, all terminals remain usable after plane crashes.
Added bug fix for "morevehicles" on Windows TTD which caused crashes. Note: This makes it impossible to load a newly saved savegame under TTDPatch 1.7 for Windows.
In 1.7.1 alpha 1:
I figured out why bgrun.exe kept getting left out of the distribution: it was still running and the zip program apparently can't read it if it's running...
Cleaned up and sorted the Makefile
Added framework for "bribe" option
In particular, allow extended command line options like -Xb because I'm running out of characters again
Cleanup up the language data routines
Changed language data files to use a different macro to define the switch names
Removed three languages: finnish and italian and danish, they're too out of date right now. Danish never got done but for some reason I had it registered as language.
